Hard Cover Binding: Choosing either Smythe (sewn) or PUR (adhesive) binding, your book will have quality built in. Our most popular binding style, Walsworth binds thoughts of books a year with these styles.
Smyth Sewn- Binding by sewing threads through the backfold of a signature and from signature to signature. This links the sigs together, while permitting the book to lay flat. This is considered one of the strongest types of binding available. Typically used for books requiring extended use and for books requiring longer shelf life. This bind style allows us to bind up to 3”. (example) PUR Adhesive- PUR- (polyurethane reactive)- The strongest perfect binding available on the market. An alternative to standard hot melt adhesive, PUR creates a stronger binding by reacting to moisture in the air and paper. The chemical reaction provides greater strength and flexibility and withstands temperature extremes as compared to conventional adhesives. All of our binders utilize this technology, providing for the strongest books in the market.
